Supercharged Ford Thunderbird
What's Special About It?
Will nostalgic American motorists be interested in driving a performance version of the recently released Ford Thunderbird? Blue Oval executives pulled the wraps off such a concept car that would give the retro favorite more muscle and a slightly redesigned body. A 3.9-liter DOHC supercharged V8 would provide 390 horsepower for what is being called a two-seat sports roadster. The look of the engine is as alluring as the power it puts out featuring a polished high-flow intake pipe and red cam covers. At a glance, the Ford Living Legends design studio left the bold design cues intact while accentuating the simple, aggressive lines. The hood, front fenders and bumpers have been massaged and chrome was liberally added to the T-Bird's new, more prominent grille. The interior is done in sumptuous chamois-tinted leather while 18-inch wheels are mounted on 16-spoke aluminum wheels.
Why Should You Care?
The T-Bird evokes memories of youth for drivers who graduated in high school when this car was first introduced. Adding more horsepower is the next step for anyone who wants to feel young and frisky. — Philip Reed
