LAS VEGAS — The 2010 Ford Taurus SHO is proving to be an inspiring platform for customizers in the run-up to the 2009 SEMA Auto Show, especially those who prefer vehicles that are "mean-looking."
Case in point is the Mobsteel Taurus SHO, a completely blacked-out ride from the windows to the wheel lips. The only features that don't get the black touch are the wheel centers and badging, which get a brushed aluminum finish. Performance modifications are also on tap. "The Taurus SHO has a very refined drive," said Adam Genei, owner of Mobsteel, headquartered in Brighton, Michigan. "Our goal is to take a little bit of that refinement out and make it a little more hard-edged. We're hoping to get more than 420 horses."
Details on the Mobsteel Taurus SHO include 22-inch forged two-piece wheels and super-low-profile Pirelli P Zero Nero tires. The chassis is customized with Air Runner front struts and Mobsteel adjustable rear air ride. It gets a Magnaflow Performance cat-back exhaust and JL Audio equipment.
The 2010 Taurus SHO from MRT-Direct also relies heavily on a tough-guy look with ground effects and a black cherry roof. The Taurus SHO gets an exhaust upgrade and wheel, tire and suspension modifications. The goal, says the Plymouth, Michigan, customizer, was to give the Taurus SHO "a more street-aggressive stance."

I think that the new Taurus is great but they really should have offered it with the option of a manual transmission. Ford's vision for this new Taurus is supposed to direct it as being more of a drivers car so I find it somewhat conflicting that they would only install automatics in them. I would like to see a manual option for all the Tauruses but if nothing else, the SHO should have one for sure.

As a previous SHO owner (1995 model) and someone who cannot afford the new one.... I must say that I spent some time walking around a white ecoboostSHO and I'll tell you what, it's a slick looking piece in real life....I was impressed enough allright. Yeah the price is obscene and it weighs way too much.... but man, it looks nice in person

Yet one more comment that demonstrates the world of those who spend their days looking at computer screens and those who actually drive them.
