PALM BEACH, Florida — Shortly before the Ford Mustang celebrates its 45th anniversary in mid-April, the first retail 2010 Ford Shelby GT500 and a pair of Mustang GT concepts from 2003 will cross the auction block during the Seventh Annual Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach Collector Car Auction, held April 9-11 here.

Proceeds from the sale of the Shelby GT500 will be donated to the Carroll Shelby Children's Foundation, while the two Mustang concepts will be auctioned to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Ford said.

The first 2010 Ford Shelby GT500 is said to feature a color scheme and equipment chosen by Carroll Shelby. The car has a Kona Blue exterior with white stripes.

The two Mustang GT concepts debuted at the 2003 Detroit Auto Show. The Redline Red Metallic Ford Mustang GT convertible concept is equipped with a 3.9-liter V8 and a five-speed automatic transmission. Details include 20-inch wheels and Brembo brakes.

"This car began with a significantly modified Ford Thunderbird rear-wheel-drive architecture," said Steve Davis, president of Barrett-Jackson, in a statement. "The platform was sectioned to achieve the proper proportion and the front-end geometry is all original."

The Tungsten Silver Ford Mustang GT coupe concept is equipped with a 4.6-liter V8 and a supercharger. Details include a glass roof and functional hood scoops.

More details on the cars and the event can be found at the Barrett-Jackson Web site .
