Brits Rev up Ford Ranger With Le Mans Look

BIRMINGHAM, England — Ford of Britain has injected a little sporty flavor into one of the old standards in its lineup by rolling out a new Ford Ranger Wildtrak with a Le Mans exterior package. The truck gets a Performance Blue paint job and Le Mans-style white stripes.

The automaker rolled out the appearance package on Monday, saying it will offer a limited number starting this month. Prices begin at the equivalent of $41,480.

Performance Blue is apparently becoming the hallmark color for Ford of Britain's performance lineup. It was previously used on the Ford Focus RS and is now available on Ford Focus ST and Ford Fiesta ST models.

The Ranger Wildtrak is powered by a 3.0-liter Duratorq TDCi that delivers 154 horsepower. Other details include standard antilock brakes, heated front seats and an off-road information center.

What this means to you: The Brits provide some interesting inspiration for those who want to go beyond the cliché flame packages on the Ranger pickup. — Anita Lienert, Correspondent
