LOS ANGELES — Ford has updated the graphics on the 2013 Mustang Boss 302 and Boss Laguna Seca, with a new School Bus Yellow exterior paint color and a "hockey stick" stripe package that recalls the classic 1970 Mustang Boss 302. The new Boss will be shown this week at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show.

The bright-yellow hue honors Parnelli Jones' Bud Moore-prepared 1970 Trans-Am championship Mustang, according to Ford, while the over-the-fender stripes are the first modern application of the hockey-stick motif on a production car.

The 2013 Mustang Boss 302 continues to be powered by a specially tuned 5.0-liter V8 that delivers 444 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque.

The Boss Laguna Seca gets even beefier suspension and more aero mods, while losing the rear seat. For 2013, the Boss Laguna Seca adds Sterling Gray exterior accents, as well as two-tone gray and silver wheels.

Both Boss models get a new grille, splitter and hood extractors, as well as revised head- and taillamps. Options for 2013 include a Torsen limited-slip differential and Recaro seats.

I have to say that back in the day I made a fuss at the Live Axle on the Mustangs but after driving the new one I realize the improvements that Ford has made.  I think IRS is still better than Solid, BUT, Ford has finally taken its racing knowledge to make a better Stock set-up.  You still feel unsettled when you hit bridge joints while turning but its gotten a lot better.

Also, you will see more current and older Mustangs than Camaro's since the Camaro just got back into production 3 years ago and the Mustang didnt stop.

It is funny to me how everyone hates on the live rear axle, funny.... I see many more New mustangs or old Mustangs in general than Camaro's and Challengers combined. Not to mention the benchmark for the Boss 302 was to smoke a current M3 w/ the competition pack...(which it did). Don't be a brand snob, they make a strong argument with a very competent sports car for a reasonable price considering the performance levels.

My bet is that "lions" wouldn't be a buyer if the 'Stang came with 4 wheels independently suspended by electronically controlled Sealy Posturepedics.  Every credible publication that has tested/driven a 2010+ Mustang has clearly stated the live axle is remarkably well controlled and supplies an excellent ride and handling balance.  It's worth remembering that there have been multiple IRS cars with lots of torque that could not put the power to the ground without violent axle tramp.  Drive a 1st generation Caddy CTS-V or GTO for example.  Ford has clearly demonstrated that they are committed to evolving the Mustang and continuously improving it's performance.  Both the Camaro SS and Mustang GT/Boss/Shelby are extraordinary cars at any price point.  I'd be thrilled to have either in my garage.

Ah, yes the live axle complaint for the umpteenth time. When Randy Pobst says "non-issue", I guess he doesn't know what he is talking about.

I dig the retro exterior, but not the center console or the live rear axle. The next gen better go current century or I won't be a buyer. I know you traditional Ford fanboys love the solid axle for drag, but it has no place in v6 or even GT models.
