DEARBORN, Michigan — The 2013 Ford Cobra Jet Mustang, the latest evolution of the automaker's turnkey racecar, will go into production next June, with total volume limited to 50 units. Prices start at $86,000 for the normally aspirated version and $93,000 for the supercharged model.
Introduced at the recent Performance Racing Industry show in Orlando, the 2013 Cobra Jet Mustang features a number of improvements.
Designed for NHRA Stock and Super Stock competition, the latest edition gets improvements to the suspension, steering and brakes, as well as a new roll cage design.
The 2013 Cobra Jet comes with a choice of two 5.0-liter V8 engines — a naturally aspirated unit with Cobra Jet induction system, CNC ported heads, high-lift cams and low-drag accessory drive, and a more potent supercharged variant with CNC port-matched manifold and heads.
The automaker also is selling Cobra Jet components through the Ford Performance Parts network, so current Mustang owners can upgrade their cars to Cobra Jet specifications.
Additional Cobra Jet options and pricing will be released in January.
Inside Line says: Likely to sell out quickly.

I truly love Ford and the Cobra. I really really do but until they can build a Cobra that can compete as a sports car (i.e. Corvette, GTR, 911 Turbo, etc...) and not just as a muscle car I will go elsewhere to purchase my sports cars.

I have never read a collection of comments that was so fill with knowledge that I had to add my two cents. Wait no, almost all of you are a bunch of idiots! Go get in your Prius and drive north till there are no more roads, then turn off your car and go to sleep. The others that actually know the meaning of this car. I'll see you at the track where factory lightweight race cars belong. The Cobra Jet is an awesome display of technology and tradition. I'm a little short on the money but I would put in an order in a heartbeat.

Wow. Some of you guys leaving comments I think need to Google "NHRA" to understand the purpose of this car.
Ford also has a Boss 302R that continues the great success in Grand Am racing (re: purpose built "turn-key" race car).

Do you guys realize this is a factory quarter-mile car? Of course it doesn't turn.

I like the slicks from the factory - go Ford.
Now if only they brought a 5.0 V8 6MT RWD sedan to the US in limited quantity.

Oh great.
Another "Special Edition" Mustang.
Who would be be foolish enough to pay big bucks for a "Collector" Mustang when Ford will release another "Collector" Mustang every six months?
