Ford Launches 2010 Mustang Customizer Site

DEARBORN, Michigan — Ford has launched an online configurator for the 2010 Mustang that lets buyers — or those just fantasizing — customize everything from the size of the burnout to the style of the spoiler on the refreshed pony car.

The build tool allows you to select the part you want to modify by clicking on the respective part or by picking from an extensive drop-down menu. You can change the color, type of decals, grille, body kit, roof, hood scoop, spoiler and choose from several different rim styles and sizes to finish off a unique look.

In addition to body changes, Ford also lets you choose a burnout size, the kind of rubber mark left on the pavement from the burnout, whether or not to put graffiti on the walls behind the car and even the backdrop itself.

One possible configuration: a Roush body kit and 427R stripes, a shaker hood, a billet grille, 20-inch blacked-out chrome wheels, rear louvers and a splash of dirt. The challenge is to differentiate your customized Mustang from the myriad of other custom 'Stangs that are viewable on the site.

Go here to get started on your personalized 2010 Ford Mustang. Note that Ford says the site is "for inspiration purposes only" and refers customers to their local dealer to turn their vision into a reality.

Inside Line says: Ford does a good job with the aesthetic customizer; too bad we can't have a look under the hood. — Mike Lysaght, Correspondent
