ST. PETERSBURG, Russia — Ford plans to produce an updated Mondeo in St. Petersburg starting next month. The news came from Ford Russia CEO Mark Ovenden.
The new Mondeo will be equipped with a 240-horsepower EcoBoost gasoline engine and a 200-hp 2.2-liter diesel TDCi engine.
In Europe, the car goes on sale this month. Sales of the new-generation Mondeo in Russia will begin in late October 2010, and it will be priced at the equivalent of $23,000.
In addition to the new Mondeo, the company is also considering production of the new Focus in 2011, with sales to start in the second half of the year. Five-door hatchback, sedan and wagon body styles are to be produced, with 1.6- and 2.0-liter gasoline and 2.0-liter diesel engine choices.
Ovenden also said that the company is ready to raise output and will employ an additional 240 workers. He added that the company is considering introducing a third shift but not before next year. The plant's capacity is currently 125,000 units per year, and it has built Focus and Mondeo models since it opened in 2002.

Can't wait to see how the next Fusion turns out. In keeping with the "f" names, when Ford brings over the C-max they should totally name it the Ford Fourplay. I would also love to see the Ford Ka come stateside.

Next Fusion for us, will be the next generation Mondeo, just keeping the Fusion name since it's received so many accolades. Its part of Fords consolidation of platforms around the world.

That is one sexy car. Maybe reintroduce the Contour to the U.S market?
