LOS ANGELES — The 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show was the showplace for a timely pair of awards as the 2010 Most Environmentally Progressive Car and Truck of the Year winners were announced. The 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid and 2010 Audi Q7 TDI Clean Diesel took the environmental prizes.
The Most Environmentally Progressive prize, titled Earth, Wind & Power after the media company that produces them, were selected by a 19-member jury panel that included Kevin Smith, editorial director of Edmunds.com. Criteria include vehicles driven "by a power source that help[s] reduce global warming" and that "support the mission to achieve energy independence through alternative sources."
Inside Line says: The list of contenders for these prizes will only grow in years to come. — Laura Sky Brown, Correspondent
