LAS VEGAS — Roximity, a new location-based smartphone app that provides real-time deals and specials, is one of five new smartphone apps compatible with Ford's Sync AppLink that the automaker plans to introduce this week at the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show here.
Created by Denver-based ID345, Roximity was the winner of the Ford Sync App Developer Challenge, held last September during the TechCrunch Disrupt Hackathon in San Francisco.
Ford has been courting third-party developers to create apps that are compatible with Sync AppLink. Roximity is one of several new apps being considered for Sync AppLink, which provides voice control of smartphone apps.
Inside Line says: Ford said more than 3,000 developers have expressed interest in creating Sync-enabled apps. The automaker maintains a Sync Mobile App Developer Network online.
