DEARBORN, Michigan — Patrick Schiavone, who has headed the design of the best-selling Ford F-series pickup over several generations, has resigned his post as director of design at Ford to take "a great job opportunity outside the auto industry," the company confirmed.
Schiavone spent 21 years with Ford, in recent years overseeing the design of such products as the Ford Flex and the Lincoln MKT, as well as the upcoming overhaul of the Ford Edge and the Lincoln MKX, in his role as design director of North American trucks and SUVs.
Earlier in his career, Schiavone directed the design of the 1994 Mustang.
Inside Line says: Schiavone's influence in the U.S. market has been considerable, given his responsibility in directing the design of several million class-leading pickups. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent
