ODELZHAUSEN, Germany — Loder1899, the German tuner that specializes in Ford products, has crafted an upgrade kit for the latest edition of the Ford Focus in Europe.

Loder1899 starts with Ford's 2.0-liter TDCi four-cylinder diesel, hiking turbo boost pressure and fitting a new exhaust system, which results in an increase in output from 163 to 195 horsepower and torque from 250 to 291 pound-feet. Acceleration from 0-60 mph is achieved in less than 8.4 seconds, while top speed improves to 137 mph.

A carbon-fiber body kit includes front lip spoiler, side skirts and rear apron with integral diffuser. The Loder1899 upgrades also feature carbon-fiber headlamp covers, LED running lamps and chrome-accented foglamps, as well as a choice of alloy wheels from 18 to 20 inches.

Cost of the full upgrade, including the base vehicle, in Germany is around $40,000.

Inside Line says: A pretty snazzy Focus, with even better performance.

I don't understand fanboys who's never driven a car going "MY MUSTANG WILL GET 30MPG!!". It won't. How many times do I have to waste my time educating the fanboys?

Doesn't that acceleration seem puny (8.4) for a small car with 195hp and 291 torque? I would expect something in the low 6's at least!!?

An inline 4 diesel with those power numbers would sell well in the us, especially to enthusiasts.

Sorry, I'll just buy a Focus with EVERYTHING for $28 (too pricey still).  I then have 160 HP from a gas engine... which I prefer.

Forty thousand dollars and 0-60 in 8.4 seconds in an economy car... Hot damn, sign me up!

Impressive numbers for a 2.0 liter diesel.  That's enough grunt to move a full size pickup.  But 20" wheels are too big to be practical on a car this size.
