Ford Offers RS500 Engine Mods to All RS Owners

    7 Ratings
    Just the Facts:
    • A new MP350 package gives regular Focus RS owners access to the RS500 engine mods.
    • Horsepower increases from 296 on the stock RS to 345.
    • Cars with the MP350 package retain Ford's factory warranty coverage.

COLOGNE, Germany — Following the announcement of its hot new Focus RS500, Ford announced today that it will offer an MP350 upgrade package for the standard Focus RS that increases that car's output to 345 horsepower and 339 pound-feet of torque — the same as on the RS500.

Developed with Mountune Performance, the MP350 kit can be ordered as a factory-approved package on a new Focus RS or as an aftermarket upgrade through Ford dealers, initially in the U.K. and later across Europe. Cars fitted with the kit retain their factory warranty coverage.

The MP350 package for the Focus RS includes a recalibrated ECU, a larger intercooler, a larger air box, a larger-diameter exhaust downpipe and an uprated fuel pump.

Of course, this upgrade kit will only be offered in Europe, with sales starting first in the U.K. Pricing has not been announced.

The regular Focus RS (305hp) is sold in Mexico for the equivalent of $38k,

so I would expect the price for a US compliant model to be in the $33k - $35k range
based on the fact that the european GTI is sold in Mexico for about $27k, and the US version starts at $23,600

None of this matters. This car is never likely going to be U.S. bound. I'm sure that it is a blast to drive. Much like the Speed3. 'Nuff said!

Okey guys that like the Ford Focus RS.

I will remind you 2 things
-it's FRONT WHEEL DRIVE and that SUCKS, and if you know about cars you should know the diferences in a FWD and a AWD & RWD... or please go to youtube an look for videos that explain the diferences and driving bennefits.
-it's AMERICAN, i'm not an american car hater but neither an american car fan... let's face it, they don't have a good reputation at all.

but... if you like the Focus RS because yuo will look cool and badass and want to impress some of your friends, o ahead and buy it.
you will be an idiot to the rest of the inteligent people.

Congratulations Mitchtj you both nail an erroneous stereotype and you make a fool of yourself all at once. Americans aren't dumb enough to pay $40k for a FWD hatchback. If you are, congratulations, but you are the sucker at the poker table. $40k is a lot of money and you should be able to get a lot of car for it. BMW 3-series, MB C, Caddy CTS, a Lancer Evo, the aforementioned Mustang 5.0, Charger/Challenger R/T, Camaro SS. Do I really need to go on?

Do you people even know about the European car pricing? You people mention cars like an A5 but do you think you can get the car for 50,000 in Europe? Cars are far more expensive there.

"Its simply because Americans dont want to pay money for quality cars. Based on the Stock RS's $40k USD sale price in Europe, the excess of this model, and the shipping charges it could be close to 50k USD by time it goes to sale"

People won't pay 50k for this car because it's not worth 50k, end of story. Sure it's an awesome car but not 50k awesome. Not when you can get into something like an S5 for just a bit more.  Half the price even if you have to detune it a bit then they can sell it in the US.

I'd like to see it offered in the US as a price & build option at least. I mean, people that buy Lotuses do it with a pen and paper, not a test drive at a dealership.

Also uq35, you call american vehicles "sh!tmobiles"? As an Australian the xr6 turbo is considered our "halo" budget model, ill take a 5.0L Mustang GT over that anyday of the week.
