Hot Hatch: 2008 Ford Focus ST Revs Up for European Debut

    BRENTWOOD, England — Ford U.K. has offered details about its 2008 Focus ST, the performance flagship of the Focus lineup here. The hot hatchback gets an upgraded interior and exterior changes.

    Details include 18-inch five-spoke alloy wheels, sport styling, Recaro sport seats, a sport steering wheel and upgraded instrumentation. Ford said new features include a "Ford Power" starter button and Easyfuel capless refueling system. The ST-2 trim level adds a Sony audio system, bi-xenon lights, LED rear lights and a Quickclear heated windshield. The ST-3 trim level adds an in-dash CD player plus full leather trim in the cabin.

    The Focus ST gets the carryover 222-horsepower 2.5-liter turbocharged five-cylinder Duratec engine. Ford said it has a top speed of 150 mph and sprints from zero to 60 mph in 6.8 seconds.

    Pricing ranges from the equivalent of $35,925 to $41,040.
