Ford Hooks Up With Rally Driver Ken Block

DEARBORN, Michigan — Ford announced on Wednesday that it is hooking up with rally driver Ken Block in its ongoing drive to promote the 2011 Ford Fiesta and the 2012 Ford Focus.
Noting that Block has "cultivated a tremendous following with his Gymkhana videos on YouTube," Ford said that its arrangement with Block will start this year. He will campaign a Ford Focus in the FIA World Rally Championship and a Ford Fiesta in Rally America and X Games.
Block's impressive Gymkhana videos often feature such Ford competitors as Subaru.
Block is the 2005 Rally America Rookie of the Year and a three-time medalist at the X Games.
The California-based Block apparently comes from a "Ford family.... My dad would be proud," he said in a statement. "He was a dedicated Ford guy."
Inside Line says: A smart move by Ford in its quest to get lots of attention for the 2011 Ford Fiesta and 2012 Ford Focus. — Anita Lienert, Correspondent
