LOS ANGELES — Two years after its launch in China, Europe and other major global markets, the Ford Fiesta is finally coming to the U.S. in 2010 and will be on display at the 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show. The subcompact Fiesta was last sold here in 1980.
Ford introduced the sixth-generation Fiesta in early 2008, following the car's unveiling as the Verve concept at the 2007 Frankfurt Auto Show. The Fiesta is currently built in Spain, Germany and China and will go into production next year in Thailand.
The 2011 Fiesta sedan and hatchback for the U.S. market will be assembled in Mexico.
The U.S. Fiesta will feature a DOHC 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine, rated at 119 horsepower and 109 pound-feet of torque. Mated to an optional PowerShift six-speed automatic transmission, it has a projected EPA highway fuel economy rating of 40 mpg. A five-speed manual gearbox is standard.
The Fiesta seats five, with cloth or leather upholstery. The car also gets automatic climate control, keyless entry, push-button start and electric power steering, as well as a full array of airbags.

When is the Euro Spec focus coming? The US version is a dog for looks and performance. And why not drop the 1.6L Diesel in there. What a minute is award winning and makes sense, we can't have that in the US. Lets get some more SUV's! (sarcasm for those who like SUV's)

UPDATE: Well, the New Fiesta is already in the www.ford.ca website with prices and options, but apparently the dealers do not have it in their inventories (at least the few I checked). It is a 2011my (when you enter the build and price section, the year shows up), perhaps they are selling it in advance, weird.
Anybody from Canada to comment on this?

It seems that the canadians got it already. It starts at CAD12,999 (www.ford.ca), and apparently it is a 2010my. Is it imported from Europe or what?

Welcome to the U.S. Ford of Europe. Long overdue. Thank you Mr. Mulally. The only small issue I have is the grille on the sedan. Why the Chrome Mini slats??? The Hatch looks more like the Euro Version with the insert but the cleanest is the Euro version. Otherwise a great execution. Lets see the next gen. Focus now. Keep the hits coming!

@ferenc: Ford's most reliable models (Fusion/Milan/MKZ) come from the plant in Hermosillo, MX. Maybe you should get out more.
