Ford Faction Concept Car
What's Special About It?
Okay, most people don't even use SUVs for visiting the great outdoors. So Ford decided to build an all-wheel-drive concept car with just that idea in mind. Instead of climbing mountains, the Faction will thread its way into tight parking spaces, and its three cameras will photograph everything in its path. Its lines resemble a downsized Volvo XC90 with a tall station wagon look and oversize wheels. Inside the three-door Faction is where the high-tech goodies abound with three video cameras capturing images displayed at the inside bottom of the windshield. A "city-friendly" door system uses double-link hinges to allow entrance even when negotiating tight parking spots. Under the hood, the European Focus ST170 engine is a beefed-up version of the 2.0-liter Focus power plant that puts out 167 horsepower. Inside, the seats look like something from a sci-fi movie with austere simplicity being the guiding principle. The Faction is the brainchild of Ingeni, the London-based studio that designs everything from sunglasses to furniture.
