- Ford posts new photos of its 2011 Explorer on Facebook.
- A full media preview is planned for later this summer.
- The 2011 Explorer moves from body-on-frame to a new unitized architecture.
DEARBORN, Michigan — Ford has shifted its pre-launch publicity campaign for the redesigned 2011 Explorer to Facebook, posting new teaser images of the utility vehicle ahead of its fall launch.
The 2011 Explorer moves from body-on-frame construction to a new unitized architecture. The new model will be built on the same assembly line as the Ford Taurus and the Lincoln MKS.
The latest teaser images of the Explorer were posted to Ford's Facebook page and appear to have been taken in a heavily forested location. Only a few details — a headlamp, the roof — can be seen in the latest images.
Ford earlier released a teaser shot of the car's left front corner, but so far has kept the vehicle under wraps ahead of a planned media preview later this summer.
Inside Line says: Viewers comments on Facebook liken the new Explorer to, of all things, a Land Rover. Wishful thinking, perhaps. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent

I like this interpretation of "teaser shot". Its like animal photography or something cool like that

not a bad looker,
you know the explorer invented the idea that suvs were great family haulers and for years it was America's best selling sport ute
i wonder if it will rain supreme again beating sales of the current most popular midsize SUV, the honda pilot

I do like the wraparound front glass (à la Saab 9-5).
