2011 Ford Explorer: New Teaser Photos Released

    15 Ratings
    Just the Facts:
    • Ford continues to tease the 2011 Explorer with spy shots.
    • The company is projecting an EPA-estimated19 mpg for the Explorer's new EcoBoost engine.

DEARBORN, Michigan — The number of "friends" leaving comments on its Facebook page has been a bit thin, but a determined Ford continues to slog away with a lame teaser campaign for the upcoming 2011 Explorer.

We've assembled about a dozen glimpses of the car culled from the various images posted on Ford's Facebook page. None is particularly revealing and, as a montage, the collection doesn't give you much of an idea of what the new frameless design will look like.

Ford has been dropping tidbits of information along with the pix — nuggets such as the projected EPA city mileage rating for the front-wheel-drive version fitted with a new EcoBoost engine, which is 19 mpg (Ford doesn't bother to tell us whether that's a four-cylinder or a V6).

We're assuming at some point that Ford's marketing wizards will get tired of all the fun and games — and the fact that nobody seems to be paying much attention — and simply release a full set of images.

another boring unibody wagon with ground clearance and 4wd.  If you want to make a CUV then make one, otherwise leave the mid-size SUV game to the companies that can put a real frame underneath.  I guess this is a dying bread, who is left that does it?  GM, Toyota, Jeep and Kia?  Is that it?

Geez, even LeBron finally came out and told us what he was doing.
Ford needs to do the same and tell us what they are doing. These
teaser shots are just stupid, unless you are 6 years old.

"Welcome back to Monster Quest. Today, we're hunting for the ever elusive 2011 Ford Explorer. So far to date, no one has ever caught the creature on film in full sight or without severe motion blur. Hopefully on this episode, we will finally see this mysterious beast...."

Sorry, I couldn't resist. This is what I think of every time they reveal teaser photos of a car, especially in the outdoor livery. The Explorer definitely looks interesting. I'm looking forward to the full reveal since everything Ford has done lately has been a huge success(not necessarily sales-wise).

All the teaser pics make it look like someone slapped a Ford Edge front-end on it. And for the love of God, that "Explorer" logo, especially with the yellow "x", needs to go. That's almost as hideous as the "Crossfire" emblem Crysler used. And yes, that rear hatch looks extremely narrow.

flyingfinn, what bashing?  some people are just stating what they like and dislike from these teaser shots by Ford, that's all.  Ford could have stopped using these photos and just shows full disclosure of the new Explorer... (then maybe you will see more bashing?)
