    This is James Riswick for Inside Line and this week we have new spy footage of the 2013 Ford Escape.   Caught testing near Ford's Dearborn headquarters, these Escape prototypes clearly show that a radical styling change is on the way.    Much of the new design is carried over from the Ford's Kuga crossover that's currently sold in Europe.  Makes it look less like an SUV and more like a tall wagon.   This Escape is expected to do away with its optional V6 in favor of a pair of four cylinder engines.   Look for the same 2.0-liter engine used in the Focus as the base engine with an Ecoboost variant offered as an option.   And given the success of the current Escape hybrid, you can bet there will be a new version of that model too.   Expect to see the final production version of the 2013 Ford Escape later this year with sales beginning in early 2012.

    please tell me that the body will be bigger...the rear-up body style isn't doing it any favors, though it seems to be a common theme with these new Fords.

    Wherever these videos are coming from, they aren't blocked by my company like the youtube ones are.  Keep it up.

    I can't agree
    The CX-7 and now CX-5 will be virtually the same size

    They only sell 5k SUV a month for the whole company
    They need to smarten up and make a choice on how to move forward

    @lostboyz

    You're right that it is a Kuga (and that's a good thing) but isn't this based on the next generation or a mid cycle refresh of the Kuga?

    At the very least, it will offer different drive trains than the current Kuga.

    @blackdynamite0

    The CX5, CX7 and CX9 are pretty different overall. The CX5 will be pretty small. The CX7 is pretty sporty and pretty midrange, that soon should change because it should next or about next for a redesign. The Cx9 is HUGE and is much larger than the CX5 and CX7.

    Think:
    CX5 vs Honda Cr-v vs Vw Tiguan vs Hyundai Tuscon vs Toyota Rav4
    Cx7 vs Ford Edge vs Toyota Venza vs Hyundai Santa Fe vs Nissan Murano
    Cx9 vs Honda Pilot vs Toyota Higlander vs Hyundai Tuscon vs Chevy Traverse

    I do agree they don't have the market share, however, the vehicles are significantly different enough to compete with others without stepping on each others toes. Plus its in a pretty booming segment  too.

    The Escape, and Mazda CX-5, will look great!

    Not sure where Mazda is going, since they don't have enough volume to support 3 SUVs, that aren't that much different in size
