2001 Ford Crown Victoria Five-Passenger Sport Appearance Package
What's special about it?
The Crown Victoria is our favorite full-size sedan under $30,000. With a 220-horsepower (235 for the handling and sport package) V8, excellent crash-test scores and a trunk that practically swallows the whole Gamboni crime syndicate, law enforcement officials, Floridians and taxi drivers everywhere have seen the charms of this otherwise oft-overlooked bargain.
Now, Ford wants to reel in those buyers who think that bench seats are for the old man by introducing the five-passenger sport appearance package, with shiny 17-inch wheels, a monotone exterior that eschews the chrome bumpers and grille, and most significantly, sport bucket seats for the front. Between the seats are a floor-mounted shifter and a center console with a power point and cupholders.
In the rear, you'll find dual exhaust pipes peeking out at you. For such a large car, the Vic already gives spirited performance, but the sport appearance package enhances the ride with revised springs and stabilizer bars and new monotube shocks.
Why should you care?
Ford is hoping that the latest Crown Vics will appeal to a new generation of buyers who think that bench seats are outdated. Personally, we think it's easier to steal a smooch from your sweetie when there's no shifter in the way.

Can you say Mercury Maurader? I guess I would consider this if I were in the market for one. I mean, what else is there? Toyota's Avalon is a JOKE!
