- Loder1899 offers mild upgrades for the Ford C-Max.
- A new body kit includes a rear diffuser and spoiler lip.
- A stainless-steel exhaust system and other tweaks increase output to 190 horsepower.
ODELZHAUSEN, Germany — Aftermarket German tuner Loder1899 has released an upgrade package for the redesigned Ford C-Max.
The performance tweaks include a stainless-steel exhaust and reprogrammed ECU for the C-Max's 2.0-liter TDCI four-cylinder turbodiesel. These minor modifications boost output and torque to 190 horsepower and 288 pound-feet, respectively. Loder1899 claims its C-Max sprints from zero to 62 mph in 8.3 seconds and tops out at 163 mph.
For improved handling, the C-Max was lowered 1.4 inches.
Loder1899 spices up the exterior with a modest body kit that includes a front apron, rear apron with a diffuser, rear spoiler lip and side skirts. It offers customers several wheel options ranging from 17-20 inches.
The total package will cost the equivalent of around $4,000 not including installation and paint.
The redesigned Ford C-Max was formally unveiled in Europe at last year's Geneva auto show and goes on sale in North America in late 2011.
Inside Line Says: These sleek and stylish upgrades are just what the C-Max needed. — Nick Lysaght, Correspondent.

I'm sure this thing has crazy tall gearing. And most likely torque reduction in the first gear or two to reduce wheelspin/torquesteer. A 0-62 time of 8.3 is roughly equiv to a 0-60 time of 8.0. Still not a killer, but 0-100kmh times are always a few tenths off from our standard.

288 lb.-ft. of torque for a front driver??? How does it manage to not spin the tires on every launch? That sounds like a sweet engine! If Ford really wants to sell some Transit Connects, that engine would really do it!
Come on Ford, scrap the boat anchor in the Transit Connect and drop in a world-class motor!

Am i the only one who thinks that is a bad time? 0-60 in 8.3? It's got 190HP and 288 lb*ft or torque and this thing can't weigh more than 3100 pounds AT THE MOST? It should be a lot quicker.

Yes, this is the Euro CMax, not the Mazda5-like mini-minivan type. Good eye.

The placement of the door handles suggests that this is indeed a European C-Max. The US 'C-Max' is the European Grand C-Max, with longer body, and rear sliding doors.

Rather than reading about $4,000 after-market upgrades, I would like to hear more about the actual factory version of the C-Max. This stuff is just like getting the cart before the horse.
I suppose, like the Focus, the C-Max will get only a five speed manual-- assuming it will get a manual at all.

I see some possibilities with this car. I had a Honda VAN which was too big, I now have a smaller hatch that is too small. A C-Max type compact VAN could be just about right. The tuner wheels on this exercise don't do much for me though.
