DEARBORN, Michigan — Ford has named Jamie Allison to succeed Brian Wolfe as director of its North American Motorsports organization. Wolfe has been reassigned to a new post in Ford's global product development organization.

Allison, who joined the automaker in 1987, previously was manager of the Ford Performance Group and has been a member of the Ford Racing management team since 2003, heading North America Motorsports marketing and Performance Parts operations for the group.

Wolfe had served as head of Ford North America Motorsports since July 2008. Under his direction, the Ford Mustang has broadened its reach in various racing series, from NHRA to SCCA.

Inside Line says: Wolfe also championed the revival of the Mustang Cobra Jet, a production version of which should begin reaching Ford dealerships early next year. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent
