What Is It?
Ford 427
What's Special About It?
A big, traditional American performance sedan sporting a V10 and displacing 427 cubic inches, the 427 is a celebration of Ford's past, which includes a long line of roomy, powerful and stylish cars like the Galaxy 500 and Mercury Montego. The front end treatment is intentionally designed to evoke the look of Galaxy 500s past. The exterior has an aggressive look and the low and wide proportions add a menacing presence not normally associated with sedans. Despite its Blue Oval origins, the 427 evokes more of a modern Cadillac feel with its sharp lines and squared-off bodywork. Driving the rear wheels, the 427's V10 cranks out 590 horsepower and sends it through a six-speed manual transmission. With the exculpation of two large gauges, the 427's dash is clean and uncluttered while the interior design offers plenty of metallic accents.
Why Should You Care?
While any high-horsepower rear-drive sedan is an exciting concept, we question the viability of a large, fuel-hungry vehicle with plenty of interior space when a different version of this same idea already exists and is selling well it's called the SUV. Karl Brauer
