    Just the Facts:
    • A production unit of the Fisker Karma will be on display at the Paris auto show.
    • Fisker said earlier this year that it had received 1,300 orders for the Karma.
    • The company plans to build and sell up to 100,000 hybrid electric vehicles a year.

IRVINE, California — Fisker Automotive said it will display the first "factory built" version of its $87,900 Karma plug-in hybrid sedan at the 2010 Paris Auto Show. The U.S. start-up, founded in 2007, has ambitious plans to build and sell up to 100,000 hybrid electric vehicles a year.

The Karma was unveiled as a concept in early 2008 at the Detroit Auto Show and originally had been slated for production in late 2009 and then mid-2010.

In May, a Fisker investor, Ray Lane of Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, was quoted by Reuters as saying the company now planned to begin regular production in February 2011.

Fisker has contracted assembly to Valmet of Finland, which also builds the Porsche Boxster and Cayman under contract. Fisker said earlier this year that it had received 1,300 orders for the Karma.

Fisker also received $529 million in U.S. government funding earlier this year to support development and production of the smaller, less expensive Project Nina car at a former General Motors plant in Wilmington, Delaware.

Herr Fisker can certainly design a stunning car.  It's a shame that he can't seem to produce them.

If you were a supplier, would you extend them credit; or demand cash-on-delivery?

Fisker's actually taken more than 2000 deposits for the Karma.

youd think this thing was a vibrator on wheels with how they market it. I would def buy this car if it can actually do what it claims...for how much it claims.....it looks great!
