- The Fisker Karma was supposed to come in under $90,000; now it starts at $95,900.
- The high-line Eco Chic model will start at $108,900.
- Fisker's plug-in hybrid luxury sedan is slated to go on sale in March 2011.
IRVINE, California — Fisker Automotive has moved the debut date, and now the company is changing the starting price of its Karma plug-in hybrid luxury sedan. Base MSRPs are now $95,900 for the standard Karma, $103,900 for the Eco Sport version and $108,900 for the high-line Eco Chic model, Reuters reported. The Karma had been tipped to cost $87,900.
Government tax incentives for the purchase of a Fisker Karma plug-in hybrid will lower the bottom line. For comparison, Tesla Motors' electric Roadster is priced at $101,500.
The Karma is set for a March 2011 debut, and the company inked a deal earlier this month with China's Grand Automotive Group, a distributor, to sell and service the vehicles in China.
Inside Line says: That $87,900 price was a mantra for a long time. — Laura Sky Brown, Correspondent

"the first $100K I part with will be going to Porsche."
- I'm still waiting for a satisfactory looking 4 door Porsche...
Also - the trunk of the Panamera could be smaller than the Boxer's. I never researched, but very limited storage for a hatchback.
"seems like a waste of taxpayers money."
- Are we funding Fisker too?
If so - agreed, by the time this car comes out Audi, GM, Nissan, Tesla and Toyota will have competing plug in hybrids/EVs. All of these companies have a better distribution/service network. Probably more design/engineering resources etc. What a shame Fisker is taking so long to come to market. The only chance of survival was to beat their competition to market. This company is dead.
At least the car looks good.

If it delivers on its performance specs I would have no problem adding it to my stable down the line...long down the line. The first $100K I part with will be going to Porsche.

I too have seen this car in person and it is amazing!
The proportions on it are perfect.
As far as price is concerned, only wealthy people will be purchasing them and the difference between 87,900 and 95,900 is nothing. My bosses are all rich and they could care less even at 108,900. I am sure I will see plenty of them just like all the other insane cars here in South Florida.

I saw the car in person at an event that Fisker held in my area. The car is AWESOME looking. It looks funny in pictures, but the car is very very good looking. The back seat is a bit crammed, that battery pack takes up all the space back there. This car is definately a reality. Bravo Fisker. Still not keen on the price tho.
