What's the Deal With Brakes? Jerry Seinfeld's '67 Fiat Rolls Over After Brakes Fail

EAST HAMPTON, New York — Comedian Jerry Seinfeld must have been asking himself, What would Jay Leno do? The brakes on Seinfeld's vintage 1967 Fiat DTM failed while he was driving alone early Saturday evening in this chic hamlet. He tried the emergency brake, but that action was insufficient to stop the car, which was headed toward an intersection.

The New York Post reported that Seinfeld then swerved, flipping the Fiat, but emerged unhurt. Police blamed the incident on mechanical failure, and Seinfeld was able to return home to reflect on his good fortune. He told the paper, "Driving without braking is not something I recommend, unless you have...a comedy background, as I do."
