TURIN, Italy — Fiat has begun shipping its redesigned Strada compact pickup from Brazil to Europe.
The ultra-compact, car-based Strada pickup gets revised sheet metal and a new cabin design, as well as a larger cargo bed and a new crew-cab body style. In Europe, it will be offered in three body styles (regular, extended and crew) with short and long beds. Fiat will sell it in three trim levels — Working, Trekking and Adventure.
Prices range from the equivalent of $16,900 for the Strada Working Single Cab model to $20,975 for the Strada Adventure Crew Cab.
Power is supplied by a 1.3-liter MultiJet turbodiesel four-cylinder engine that makes 95 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque.
Inside Line says: Not the most attractive small pickup we've ever laid eyes on, but with its fuel-efficient diesel engine and affordable price tag, the Strada seems as if it could be a match for the U.S., too.

@007Solace; I think you're missing the point of a compact truck, this will be the truck that's going to fill consumer demand for fuel efficiency, commuting, handling, braking, power, and ease of parking, that full size trucks lack. The lighter compact truck will deliver greater power, and fuel efficiency, than its larger heavier brethren. If this compact truck is well built, reasonable priced, and proves durable, it should do very well.

blueprint1, best post ever. LOL. You are so right. 99% of the cargo I see in a pickup is air. Awesome post.
To recap:
"A FWD truck would be perfect for America's favorite cargo: air"

This will only be good in North America. To be used by Cities or companies that need the extra room but not much power. Having a fleet of them.

A FWD truck? A minivan might have more power and cargo space.

@Hondaman:
My friend's mid 80's Chevy LUV had a 70 horsepower diesel, and it carried about nearly a 1000 pounds of trash. I, for one, dig such a small truck. There are always needs to carry things that won't fit in a trunk, but will never be used it for much more. A nice small, fuel efficient truck for the man that does not need something that can't be parallel parked.

Wow!! Sergio Marchioni missed the mark again. Get real, a 1.3 litre truck and only 95 horsepower?? What would be the load limit on such a truck, 100 pounds??? Such a small truck, with such a small engine with only 95 horsepower would not be successful in the US market. Go back to the drawing board and design a PROPER truck for the North American market, please. The Fiat 500 is another disaster, too small, not enough power, cost too much for such a small and insignificant package. Those il-conceived ideas will get Fiat bankrupt very quickly.
I am utterly shocked at some of the folks who think such a truck is a good idea for the US market. Simply amazing.

I'm really liking the look of the color in the first shots. I could see this being successful here in crew cab form without a doubt. However now that someone mentioned it may be FWD, that might not go over so well.
