MONACO — You may never have heard of Atomik Cars. But the tiny French design firm headed by Jerome Gallix could put itself on the automotive map with its Atomik 500, an all-wheel-drive, battery-powered edition of the Fiat 500 Abarth. The vehicle will debut on April 15 at the 2010 Top Marques Monaco show.
The Atomik 500 features a pair of brushless synchronous electric motors, said to provide the equivalent of 300 hp, as well as a lithium-iron-phosphate (LiFePO4) battery pack. Atomik claims a 0-60-mph acceleration time of 5.6 seconds.
Additional features include a direct-drive transmission, a ceramic heater and air-conditioning.
Exterior modifications include side cooling intakes and a grille-less nose.
A limited production run of 50 cars is planned.

Most automakers brag about tuning their cars on the Nurburgring. Atomik Cars apparently tested this on the moon. Now everyone will be attempting to break their lap time!

Fiat is trying very hard to compete with the Mini,
so they are probably putting some money to have all this "special" versions of the 500.
Talk about modifications, I believe the only remaning thing from the 500 is the exterior shell
(that, by the way, looks more like an old Ford Ka from the rear).
