Tuner Special: O.CT Fiat 500

LUSTENAU, Austria — We last heard from O.CT Tuning after it had breathed new life into the Dodge Nitro. Now the Austrian tuner has punched up the Fiat 500 mini.

O.CT has upgraded the car's tiny 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine, bumping output from 75 to 90 horsepower and torque from 107 to 133 pound-feet. The results are hardly breathtaking, but impressive nevertheless. Acceleration from zero to 60 mph in the stock car takes a leisurely 16 seconds; with the O.CT kit, the 0-60-mph run is trimmed to less than 12.9 seconds. Top speed is also modestly increased.

O.CT offers a choice of 17-inch alloy wheels in several colors, including black, along with low-profile 205/40R17 tires.

What this means to you: A relatively affordable way to hop up your Fiat 500. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent
