Launched in 2005, the FXX program will now stretch beyond 2007, adding a series of six international track events in 2008 and '09, including two in North America, two in Europe and two in Asia. The cars will also participate in an end-of-season Ferrari World Finals.
Ferrari says the Evo package on the FXX is aimed primarily at improved handling and performance. The car gets a new rear wing profile and new livery to distinguish it from the original. The latest FXX Evo was developed in collaboration with former F1 ace Michael Schumacher and about 20 of Ferrari's own client test-drivers over the past two years.
The cars, which are not homologated for street use, have been constantly updated, with most of the modifications centered on running gear, electronics and aerodynamics. Ferrari has altered the transmission gear ratios and trimmed shift times while boosting output on the 6.3-liter V12 to 860 horsepower.
A new traction control system is driver-adjustable, the Brembo brakes have been upgraded and the front suspension geometry has been modified, resulting in longer life for the 19-inch Bridgestone racing tires.
On the aero front, the FXX gets a new rear diffuser and rear flaps as well as modifications to the active front spoiler control system, all of which help to increase efficiency by 25 percent.
In addition to the official FXX track events, clients can arrange their own private individual track sessions.
What this means to you: Oh, to be a Ferrari client.
