Pint-Size Ferrari FXX Set for Spring Debut

PORTSMOUTH, England — Berg Toys is pitching its new Ferrari FXX pedal car as something special for the kids. But it undoubtedly will attract a lot of adults who can't afford the seven figures for the grown-up version.

The base FXX Racer pedal car starts at the equivalent of $725 and is tricked out with a seven-speed transmission, an onboard computer, disc brakes and semi-slick racing tires. The FXX Exclusive model, which is priced at Euro $2,175, has a premium racing bucket and four-point harness, a leather steering wheel and an aero kit.

Berg describes itself as "a world market leader in the field of go-karts." The Ferrari FXX model has attracted scores of media attention, including a mention in Russia's Pravda. The toymaker's Web site is under development, but the vehicle will be available through its dealer network and through Ferrari dealers in March.

What this means to you: It lacks the horsepower but has the same cachet as the real deal. — Anita Lienert, Correspondent
