MARANELLO, Italy — The Ferrari FF concept, which previews the 612 Scaglietti replacement, was unveiled on Friday ahead of its debut at the 2011 Geneva Auto Show.
The FF gets a shooting brake-style body — courtesy of Pininfarina -- which is already being described as controversial in some quarters, as well as four seats and Ferrari's first four-wheel-drive system. The automaker says it weighs 50 percent less than a conventional four-wheel-drive system. "The four-wheel-drive technology delivers record levels of performance on all terrains and in all conditions via continuous and intelligent predictive torque distribution to all four wheels," said Ferrari in a statement.
Power is provided by a 6.3-liter V12 that churns out 651 horsepower and 504 pound-feet of torque. It is connected to a seven-speed double-clutch transmission which enables the FF to sprint from zero to 62 mph in 3.7 seconds. It has a top speed of 208 mph.
The FF has an independent suspension with magnetically adjustable dampers and Brembo carbon ceramic brakes.
Ferrari said it will feature six model-specific exterior colors. No word yet on launch details or pricing.
A video of the Ferrari FF in the development process shows it tackling snow and ice.

This car should not exist. It insults the Platonic object inwhich a Ferrari strives to embody. The fact that Ferrari chose to build this inappropriate form, proves that Ferrari cares little of ideals, and only about catching profits in competition with the Panorama. It points to a weakness in Ferrari's focus, and hence should signal to others there is an opportunity to beat Ferrari at its game. The search of the ultimate supercar.

Seats 4, if the rear-seat occupants are toddlers in car seats.
It's a very polarizing design, I can see love it, and hate it, but nothing in between.
Frankly, I don't think Ferrari should EVER play around with the idea of a hot-hatch, no matter how hot it is. And I mean hot by burn tires, not by the Paris "that's hot"-o-meter. Give me the drivetrain in a coupe with a trunk and call it a day.

If there is a market for this...I'm not in it. Lots of other great Ferrari models to choose from. I'm sure someone has been waiting for this, just not me.

This is only the second Ferrari ever that I covet. The first was (and still is) the 599 GTB Fiorano.
I like this. It's different. It's unique. It isn't butt-fugly like the Porsche "where's the eye-bleach" Panamera, but then again that's not that hard to accomplish. I disagree, nkmjo, this is the EXACT OPPOSITE of the Panamera, in that it's a GOOD-LOOKING '4-door coupe' from a european supercar maker. I think that this looks as good as the Aston Martin Rapide (another car that I covet), while being a totally different take on the design language. Bravo to Ferrari for pushing the envelope.
Yep, if I win the lottery, I'd have to do some serious choosing between this and the Rapide. For my 4 door sports car, that is. Sorry Nissan, lol.
It's already obvious by the comments on this site that this is a 'love it or hate it' design, though, and that's cool. Ferrari doesn't have to please everybody, nor should they try to. That's Porsche's problem, they're trying to be everything to everybody, and look where their designs are going. BOOORRRIIINNGGGG. If not downright ugly. The Cayenne? Yawn... Again, the Panamera? 'Tis to puke! At least Ferrari is taking a stand, making a statement.
Anyway, one vote from me in the 'I LOVE IT, AND I WANT IT' column. :)
