    Just the Facts:
    • Ferrari customers now can choose from one of three personalization collections — Scuderia, Classica and Inedita.
    • Buyers are invited to Maranello to help create their bespoke cars.
    • Each customer who partakes in the Tailor-Made program is assigned a personal designer.

MARANELLO, Italy — Ferrari has launched a Tailor-Made personalization program that enables customers to create bespoke cars to their individual specifications — in effect, the institutionalization of a tradition that began in the 1950s, when the Italian automaker permitted well-heeled buyers to spec everything from cockpit trim to custom bodywork.

As part of the Tailor-Made program, customers are invited to the Ferrari Design Center in Maranello, where each is assigned a personal designer. The center houses "a dedicated area that looks and feels very much like a haute couture studio with a huge array of samples of materials, treatments and colors to browse," according to Ferrari.

Tailor-Made participants can choose from one of three personalization collections — Scuderia, Classica and Inedita.

The Scuderia ("the stable") collection is said to be inspired by Ferrari's fabled motorsports history. It offers a variety of racing-derived materials, finishes and liveries. Among the Scuderia options are carbon-fiber trim, technical fabrics, chamois, rubberized leather, Alcantara, microfibers, kevlar, satin-finish and matte metals.

The Classica ("classic") collection "provides a modern twist" on the automaker's classic road cars. Among the Classica options are historical pastel colors, vintage and natural leather, wool, cashmere, velvet, chromed elements and detailed stitching.

The Inedita ("unpublished") collection introduces "an element of experimentation and innovation in terms of styling, colors and materials." Among the Inedita options are matte paint finishes, leather upholstery, suit fabrics, technical fabrics and — of all things — denim.

The final part of the process is an invitation to owners to pick up their new cars in person in Maranello.

Inside Line says: Even with the assistance of a personal designer, we can't help but wonder at what sort of bizarre combinations we may soon witness on future bespoke Ferraris.

agnh - good point, maybe with this glaring error I can finally afford a lightly used 599. Denim certainly depreciates a car faster than a dirty car fax report.

Denim??  I think if you need to unload it quickly, you might just end up regretting having your 599's seats perfectly matched to the sample you brought in from your weird uncle's AMC Gremlin.  Just sayin'

I think modern Ferraris are beautiful, with the glaring exception of whatever they did in the second picture. WHY? Is that a denim interior?
