WASHINGTON — Ferrari is recalling F355 and 355 F1 models from 1995-'96 to correct repairs, some dating back to 1997, originally made to fix a potential fuel leak that could cause engine fires.
According to NHTSA, "Independent automobile repair facilities may have improperly installed certain screw clamps that are located in close proximity to the fuel lines and that fasten the water sleeve to the thermostat connection. The improper installation of these screw clamps may damage the fuel supply pipes."
As a result, the agency said fuel could leak into the engine compartment, "causing smoke and, in some circumstances, fire."
The F355 was originally recalled for the fuel leak/fire problem in 1997. NHTSA said 2,356 Ferraris are involved in the latest campaign.
As part of the new fix, NHTSA said Ferrari will install fuel divider blocks to prevent fuel leakage.
Owners can contact Ferrari directly at (201) 816-2600 or NHTSA's vehicle safety hotline at (888) 327-4236.
Ferrari expects to begin notifying owners in December.

The recall notwithstanding, the F355 is what I picture when someone mentions the word "Ferrari." Unlike ensuing V8 Ferraris, all of which are exceedingly beautiful, there is nothing anyone can quibble about with the style and design of this truly sensuous machine. Make mine fly yellow please.
