Buy a Ferrari, Get Free Maintenance for Seven Years

    Just the Facts:
    • Ferrari California, FF and 458 Italia buyers will get seven years of free maintenance.
    • The Ferrari Genuine Maintenance program covers all scheduled maintenance items including fluids.
    • The program has no mileage restrictions and can be transferred to a second owner.

MARANELLO, Italy — Ferrari, plagued last year by a rash of fires that triggered the largest safety recall in its history, said it will offer a seven-year free maintenance program on all new Ferrari California, 458 Italia and FF models.

The program started in March in Europe and eventually will be rolled out to other markets this year, the company said.

The Ferrari Genuine Maintenance program covers all scheduled maintenance items, including spare parts, engine oil and brake fluid. The program has no mileage restrictions and can be transferred to a second owner.

Ferrari said the program is "designed to anticipate one annual service each year during the seven years, but, as there is no mileage restriction, clients who reach the service intervals by mileage (every 12,500 miles) will be able to have their car serviced more than once per year."

Last September, Ferrari initiated a worldwide recall of the 458 Italia because glue could leak onto the exhaust system and cause a fire. The recall covered 1,248 cars, including more than 300 in the U.S.

OMG!!!  I mean, come on.  Really.  Who keeps their Ferrari for seven whole years.  OK, two years.  Maybe three years max if you're poor.  But seven?  Eww.

This is an awesome move. I wish more manufacturers would offer a plan like this. I remember when I bought a BMW several years ago, they gave 4 years of the same thing. It was great. On the flipside, I wonder how much this actually costs Ferrari when looked at next to the profit margin for each car sold.

Also have to realize that this is a "free maintenance" offer, not a warranty.

Anyone know what the standard warranty on one of these cars is?

Now that I can afford the maintenance, all I need now is to buy the car...

When my friend saw this article, his response was... "I would drive with the windshield washer on all the time"
