DETROIT — While the 2008 Los Angeles Auto Show is in full swing, there is news that three more automakers have opted out of participation in the 2009 Detroit Auto Show here in January. Rolls-Royce, Land Rover and Ferrari have all decided not to attend the Detroit show.

The three luxury marques join Porsche, Suzuki and Chinese automakers Changfeng and Geely in declining to attend the Detroit event. New-model debuts that won't be seen by Detroit showgoers include the Ferrari California and the Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupe.

Inside Line says: Since the Detroit automakers largely held back from the Los Angeles show, at least we hope there will be a bit of a splash from them at their hometown show. — Laura Sky Brown, Correspondent
