According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a clutch sensor in the transmission could malfunction under normal driving conditions due to heat produced by the vehicle. "Such sensor malfunction may inhibit the proper function of the clutch assembly, making the shifting of the gears very difficult," said NHTSA in its summary of the problem. The clutch sensor malfunction "may render the vehicle inoperable, resulting in a crash," the agency said.
The recall started in late May. Owners can contact Ferrari for details at (201) 816-2600.
