MARANELLO, Italy — Ferrari reportedly could be planning to show a hybrid version of its 599 GTB Fiorano in concept form at the 2010 Geneva Auto Show in March. The Italian auto-enthusiast magazine Quattroruote, on its Web site and in its January issue, says the concept "could be" shown in Geneva. The hybrid reportedly makes use of the Italian automaker's experience from the past Formula 1 season using the kinetic energy recovery system, or KERS.
The car would be the first Ferrari hybrid road car. Reportedly it would use the 6.0-liter V12 engine from the production car along with an electric motor and lithium-ion batteries placed at the rear transaxle. Estimated fuel savings would be about 35 percent for an average of about 13.8 miles per gallon, the Italian publication reports.

We could see a hybrid setup like this on the Corvette in the next 10/15 years (maybe more). Not sure if anyone that can afford a Ferrari 599 really wants the extra weight of a hybrid system just so they can get 13 to 14 miles per gallon.
