LONDON — Ferrari boss Luca di Montezemolo this week confirmed production of an open-top version of the 599 GTB Fiorano, in a series of interviews with the British press.
"This is a very unusual car and it will certainly surprise you," Montezemolo said. "It's only going to be available to a very select number of clients who've been asking us for an open-top version of the 12-cylinder for quite some time now. We won't be unveiling it at a show, though. Instead we'll be organizing private presentations."
Montezemolo later said the drop-top 599 will be revealed to the public in August in Pebble Beach.
A Ferrari statement said only "a very limited number will be built" of the 599-based roadster.
Ferrari also is working on a convertible edition of the 458, which is expected to break cover in early 2011.
