MARANELLO, Italy — Ferrari will auction off the last F430 off the line and donate proceeds to the rebuilding effort for the Abruzzo region in Italy, which was struck by an earthquake in April. In a touching gesture, the F430 is decorated in the blue and gold traditional colors of the hardest-hit area, L'Aquila province.

The F430 is being sold by RM Auctions during its Ferrari: Leggenda e Passione auction here on Sunday, and Ferrari says it will work with "the local authorities" in Abruzzo to make sure proceeds will be used for "the most needy."

Ferrari Chairman Luca di Montezemolo has signed a commemorative certificate, and a personalized dedication plate will also be part of the F430 package at auction. The successful bidder gets an invitation to Maranello and the ability to pick goodies from the Carrozzeria Scaglietti catalog to complete the car's specification.

    The F430 was introduced in 2004. It has a 4.3-liter V8 making 490 horsepower and 343 pound-feet of torque.

Inside Line says: A magnanimous and patriotic gesture from a company that knows a little something about making the earth move. — Laura Sky Brown, Correspondent
