2004 Ferrari Challenge Stradale
What's Special About It?
Essentially a road-going version of the 360 Modena used in the Ferrari Challenge International racing series, the Stradale incorporates several race-proven technologies to create an even more visceral experience behind the wheel. There are two versions available: a standard model with traditional wraparound seats and roll-down windows, and an extreme model that uses sliding windows and racing seats. The car shaves 242.5 pounds off the standard Modena through more extensive use of aluminum parts as well as a limited amount of carbon pieces for the interior and exterior trim. The vehicle also incorporates a more radical suspension setup and additional aerodynamic enhancements for maximum stability at high speeds. A Formula One-style gearbox allows for fingertip shift control while an enhanced braking system utilizing carbon ceramic discs further reduces weight while allowing for continued high-speed running without any loss of stopping power.
Why Should You Care?
Unless you already have enough disposable income to buy a standard Modena, the introduction of the Challenge Stradale probably won't do much to get your juices flowing. For those who do have the means, the Challenge Stradale is a tempting variation on what is already one of the most sought after sports cars in the world.
