Chinese Power: FAW Fires Up Its New V12

    0 Ratings
CHANGCHUN, China — China's FAW Group has fired up its first V12 engine, earmarked for a new series of high-end limousines due in mid-2009.

Designated CA12VG, the normally aspirated 6.0-liter unit is said to be developed internally and is slated to go into limited production in about a year, according to local press reports.

The V12 will be used in the new Hongqi (Red Flag) HQE limousine that was first seen in concept form several years ago. The HQE reportedly is targeted at the Rolls-Royce Phantom and will be the most expensive model ever to wear the homegrown Hongqi brand name.

What this means to you: China's first V12 is coming onto the market during a period of new concern over the high cost of fuel and the impact of auto emissions on the environment. — Hu Lei, Correspondent
