2010 Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR-X Laps the 'Ring in Just Over 7 Minutes

    Just the Facts:
    • The 2010 Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR-X lapped the Nürburgring Green Hell in 7:03.058.
    • The ACR-X managed to lap the 'Ring 9 seconds faster than the regular Dodge Viper ACR.
    • G-forces and downforce meters are featured on the video of the lap.

NURBURG, Germany — SRT has kept us busy lately with plenty of 2013 Viper teasers (the new production car will officially be uncovered at this spring's 2012 New York Auto Show), and now the Chrysler performance brand has uploaded some new material to the Net with a video of its race-only 2010 Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR-X lapping the Nürburgring Green Hell in 7:03.058.

This is 9 seconds faster than the 7:12.13 time the ACR team recorded in September after it got competitive when the Lexus LFA set the bar with its then-record-setting 7:14 run.

Although the ACR-X is not street legal, it is only a moderately spruced-up version of the Viper ACR. Considered a turnkey racing car, the ACR-X has a 640-horsepower 8.4-liter V10, track-tuned suspension with roll cage, fuel cell and aero gear that makes it 160 pounds lighter than a standard production Viper.

The video gives you a look into the cockpit of the lightning-fast run, complete with g-force and downforce meters to see what the driver and the car were really going through.

Inside Line says: Not sure what this proves given the racecar status of the ACR-X. Nice time and good video, though.

Great video. This video really shows the difference between super high performance vehicles like the ZR1 GTR and Porsche S that their laps look like a Sunday stroll compared to the brutality of this mild race car.

Surprisingly im amazed to see it has HVAC controls.

This car is not even street legal. I like to see  the viper race a Corvette C6R. The Vette will blow it's doors off. I'll go as far to say the C6R will run the ring in less than 7 minutes.

    Corvettes Rule

Please guys, it was pure and simple sarcasm. Get it? Sarcasm. I cannot stand GM/Chevy/Vette at all.

I have always liked Corvettes but would never get one bc of the stigma associated with them. It's not that I care what people think of me but that stigma just seems to taint the car and ruin it, kinda like ZR1man.

    @ Colorado,

And your name must be Ray-Ray or Cletus.  Haha...

This Viper is way better than any 'vette out there.

The two American super cars that I really like is this Viper and the GT40. Never like the Corvette, don't know why, maybe because of the look? or could be because of ZR1man?

I like how the driver safety net connects to the crossmembers by going through the A/C Vent and that this monster still has a keyhole in the steering column, and a key.

@colorado1974: Yeah unless you get a vintage/classic one. Those are the real deal.

Sure Paul.  What makes them better is that you have the matching Jean Jacket and Mullet to go with it.  Nothing says "Aging white trash" like a Corvette.
