LOS ANGELES — The 2010 Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR 1:33 Edition debuted on Wednesday at the 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show, capturing a good chunk of the limelight and honoring the new production car lap record set by the Viper on November 24 at Laguna Seca raceway. Chrysler said just 33 units of this special model will be built.
The Viper ACR 1:33 Edition stands out with a two-tone Black Clearcoat/Red Clearcoat exterior. Interior highlights include piano-black console bezels with red gauge highlights complemented with red accent stitching. The special model pays tribute to the lap record set last month by an SRT vehicle dynamics engineer who piloted a black and red 2010 Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR — short for American Club Racer — to a lap record of 1:33.915 around the 2.238-mile, 11-turn course at Laguna Seca. It broke the previous lap record by more than 1.1 seconds.
It is the first of several special limited-edition models of the Viper due out in 2010. Next in the pipeline is the 2010 Vooodoo edition Viper ACR. That model will be even more exclusive, with just 10 cars built. The Vooodoo edition Viper ACR features an all-black Clearcoat exterior with a graphite driver's stripe outlined in red. The unique striping is carried over to the car's steering wheel.
Pricing has not yet been announced on the 2010 Dodge Viper lineup. Chrysler said on Wednesday that information will be announced at a later date. It also said that "additional special-edition models [of the Viper] will be announced closer to their individual introductions."
Dodge also used the occasion of the 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show to detail changes to the 2010 Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR. It gets a new short-throw shifter for the new model year, a redesigned rear wing and a new 5th-gear ratio, resulting in a top speed increase of 4 mph, to 184 mph for the ACR model.
Two new exterior colors are available for 2010 on the Viper SRT10. They are Toxic Orange Pearl Coat and Bright Silver Metallic Clearcoat.
Chrysler once again noted that body style offerings remain unchanged for the Viper. Approximately 500 vehicles will be built for the 2010 model year.

Are these limited edition Vipers aimed at improving sales? Offering limited editions always seemed like a way to up the price with little actual improvement. Will these Vipers offer anything else besides paint and trim?... Doesn't look bad by the way.
