What Is It?
Dodge Tomahawk

What's Special About It?
In this case, a better question would be "what isn't special about it?" The Tomahawk is so out there as a concept that it almost defies a definition. Although the Tomahawk does ride on four wheels, it is clearly not a car.

What happens when Dodge designers build a 500-horsepower, V10 motorcycle? Well, one thing is it will do 0-to-60 in 2.5 seconds. Clearly a motorcyclelike vehicle, the Tomahawk resembles a childhood Hot Wheel but with an outrageously large engine sticking out of what was the hood — only this is no toy. The Tomahawk was driven onto the stage under its own power and looked to all the world like a real motorcycle.

Even calling it a motorcycle seems to sell the Tomahawk short — it looks more like the bike from Tron or a drag bike than some Kawasaki you might see on the road. The Tomahawk incorporates many unique features — exhaust that exits between the two narrow rear wheels, a headlight that resides between the two front wheels, plus four-wheel disc brakes that run along the outside diameter of the wheels.

As Chrysler acknowledges, many people will ask, "Why?" Trevor Creed, senior vice president of Chrysler Group Design, said it best, the Tomahawk is "…a glimpse into the soul and commitment of true enthusiasts."

Why Should You Care?
In Dodge's own words, "This is a bold-faced slap against mediocrity." If this is what Dodge people are doing for fun, imagine the cars they'll be building in the coming years. — Brian Moody
