Super Bowl: Dodge To Make 60-Second Appearance

    2 Ratings

DETROIT — In what could be a faint light at the end of the tunnel, Chrysler will play a 60-second Dodge ad during the Super Bowl. The ad will air during the first half of the Super Bowl on Sunday, February 7, the automaker said. This is the first Chrysler appearance on the high-priced TV event since a 2005 Dodge Magnum spot, Advertising Age reported.

Ad-industry tracking firm TNS Media Intelligence says CBS will be charging at least $2.5 million for 30 seconds of advertising time for the 2010 Super Bowl. The firm, which tracks Super Bowl spending, says General Motors was the only automaker among the top five Super Bowl advertisers over the past 20 years, having spent $80.5 million in the 15 years in which it advertised during the event.

GM won't be on the advertiser list this year. GM, Chrysler and Ford all sat out the 2009 Super Bowl. Dodge reportedly will have company from Volkswagen/Audi, Honda and Hyundai/Kia in this year's list of advertisers.

15% of the total vehicles chosen by IIHS TOP SAFETY PICKS were Chrysler products, including the Avenger, Journey, and Sebring and Jeep Patriot.

President Obama drove the Chrysler 300 before coming president.

But who am I to argue with the brainwashed foreign car boylovers that you all are.  It's funny that your taxdollars are supporting American cars, while your paychecks support chinese automakers.

60 second commercial for a company barely breathing is highly risky...lets see how this goes.

Hope they have something way more compelling to show than the Caliber and Avenger in the picture above.  The collective resale value of every one of those penalty boxes ever sold would not pay for the 60-second adv!

Actually, I think Chrysler cars are worse than dodge cars. The magnum and charger are almost acceptable, and the challenger is decent. Chrysler doesn't have a single one.

I wholeheartedly believe that dodge makes the worst cars currently on sale today

It better be a super duper Dodge.  Otherwise, it's a waste of money.  They could better spend the money on really good media advertising.  The last really good Chrysler advertising was for the '57 models with "suddenly it's 1960".

    Great use of taxpayer money.
