Dodge Stratus Turbo
What's Special About It?
Well, there's obviously a turbocharged engine lurking under the hood, but that's not the only thing that makes this Stratus stand out from the pack. The revised front fascia uses a deeper air dam while a functional hood scoop feeds the 2.4-liter four-cylinder underneath. Rated at 240 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, this is one family four-door that could qualify as a legitimate sport sedan. A five-speed manual transmission with a short throw shifter sends the power to the ground via 18-inch wheels wrapped in low-profile Michelin Pilot tires. A lowered suspension, extended side sills and upgraded brakes complete the functional upgrades. Custom leather upholstery adorns the interior along with a Momo leather-wrapped shift knob, revised instrument panel, chrome door handles and an Eclipse entertainment system.
Why Should You Care?
With Honda and Nissan fielding powerful versions of their bread-and-butter family sedans, Dodge is going to have to make some serious performance upgrades to the Stratus just to keep up. Although it's unlikely that this car will make it to dealers wearing anywhere near as much added equipment, don't be surprised to see a four-door Stratus R/T surfacing in the near future.
