    • Both cars are powered by the new 6.4-liter Hemi V8, which makes 470 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque.

    LOS ANGELES — Dodge is going back to the well once more, reviving the Super Bee name on a special edition of the 2012 Charger SRT8. For good measure, it is adding a new Yellow Jacket edition of the 2012 Challenger SRT8. Both models will be formally introduced next week at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show.

    The limited-edition cars will be available for order from Dodge dealers in December, with deliveries to begin next spring. Both cars are being assembled at Chrysler's Brampton, Ontario plant.

    Powering the 2012 Charger Super Bee and the 2012 Challenger Yellow Jacket is the automaker's largest, most potent Hemi V8, a new 6.4-liter unit rated at 470 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. Mated to a standard five-speed automatic transmission in the Charger and a choice of five-speed automatic or six-speed manual in the Challenger, the engine enables 0-60 acceleration in less than 5.0 seconds. Top speed is 175 mph with the automatic (182 mph in the manual-equipped Challenger).

    The two cars share a number of features, notably new 20-inch five-spoke cast-aluminum wheels with black painted pockets, Brembo brakes with painted calipers and an SRT three-spoke performance steering wheel with paddle shifters (with automatic transmission only).

    The Charger Super Bee is offered with a choice of Stinger Yellow or Pitch Black paint with exterior graphics, while the Challenger Yellow Jacket comes only in Stinger Yellow, with its own unique graphics package.

    The cockpits in both cars are described by Chrysler as "race-inspired," with sport seats, accent stitching and custom graphics.

    Dodge originally applied the Super Bee name at the tail end of the muscle-car era on a performance version of the midsize Coronet. The Dodge Super Bee was marketed from 1968-'70 as a companion to the Plymouth Road Runner. The name was revived on special editions of the Charger from 2007-'09.

    The Yellow Jacket name — originally spelled Yellowjacket — was used earlier on a one-off version of the 1970 Dodge Challenger, when the car was a companion to the Plymouth Barracuda.

    @zr1man there's other cars out there than a corvette and you can't compare a sports car to a "muscle car" this super bee thing is pretty decent looking and has some good power but anybody trying to race a stock version of it against a zr1 or a z06 would be pretty dumb but then again buying a top of the line corvette bred on a track and just doing highway pulls is pretty dumb too.

    @gixxer dude i know lil hondas that i can't stand that would wax alot of new cars but you have to talk stock for stock and in the same class i can get me a 81 corolla and throw a tacoma motor with a turbo and run 9 seconds but then you wouldn't have a car you could drive around and pick up the kids with and it wouldn't be new at the dealership

    overall this is a very nice looking car if i had a bunch of money to buy 10 new cars that black challenger would be on the list.

    You looked at, you could buy, my friend has, or you would take a........... and it will blow your doors off. HA HA HA. Get real bud. You don't have one. Maybe never will. Well I do. I have a 2010 ZR1 and a 2009 C6. I bought both new. What is all this "claims to have" BS? Why is it so hard for you understand this?

    And, what is this about only older people driving Vettes? I am 36 and I am not gray.  I don't consider myself old. I am not some punk kid. I do very well in my profession. I can afford nice things. If I wanted a gtr I would buy a new one. But you could not give me one. I wouldn't allow a gtr on my property. I think it is ugly. Furthermore, I do not support or purchase foreign made products if I can help it.

    Get a Vette, you'd be a happier person.

    @mklrivowner,

    I completely understand the difference between a stock car and a mod'ed one. I am just sick and tired of reading post from @zr1man that bashes anything and everything that isn't a zr1. If you read any of his prior posts, that stock zr1 he claims to have in the garage will run all comers under the table. Just like him comparing the zr1 to either one of these cars above. Not in the same class. I was just explaining to him that for $35k less I can buy a car mod'ed or not that will walk that vette and still have $35k in my pocket.(for the faked boobed escorts) that @compressor talked about. LOL

    @Gixxer - wait, wait, wait,....  You're comparing a NEW stock ZR1 to a USED (yes, in top-end performance cars, 10K is comfortably used) GTR with a top-shelf aftermarket upgrade?

    Now I'm not disagreeing that the majority of vette owners are the guys trying way too hard.  There are plenty of cars I'd buy over a vette, but not many if I were looking at performance cars for pure enjoyment with no price limits.

    A Fiero with a supercharged 3600 or 3800 series will blow the doors off a lot of things.  But there's a reason we don't talk about modified old models (even late model cars) when trying to argue the merits of a BRAND NEW car.

    Truth be told, if I were going to drop that kind of cash into a car, I'd much rather pay to get my own dream car built up from the body/chasis I have.  But I'd be content with a Z06.  And I'd probably take a Z06 over a GTR.  I know I'd choose the Z06 over a ZR1.

    @zr1man, get over it already. The only guys I see driving vettes are old, gray haired, shirt open, hairy chested, gold chain wearing, uncool pretenders going thru a middle life crisis. For the price of a stock zr1 there are so many other options that will flat out smoke that car. I was just in Chicago looking at a 2010 Nissan GTR with the Hennesy 700 package which takes the HP over the zr1. It had less than 10k miles and the dealer is asking $89,900. That car will flat out eat the zr1 alive with the all wheel drive and the ability to put 650+ hp to the ground (unlike the zr1). GET OVER YOUR SELF. Neither of these cars above are even trying to compete with the zr1.

    @saunupe1911   What other "Big 3" ?
    @zr1man    i love ya, but your in your car alone and only impressing yourself ...

    @garrym ... compressor ...  zr1man ...  You're YELLOW with envy.
    @garrym ... yeah 'cause there's not a lot of NASCAR fans ...
            "That's okay 'cause Boston's not a big college town."

    SERIOUSLY ?  475 hp/tq, rear wheel tire-frying, screaming yellow, handles like a dream, with an amazing ride, room for the kids (or fake boob escorts), 20 -25 mpg, absolutely NOTHING compares to it for $45-50k .... NOTHING!!!   (None of the other "Big 3"???)
    So...
    ...get over it the Charger is going to have 4 doors, or maaaaaaaybe it should go back to being a 2.2 four cyl front wheel drive Omni hatchback ... at LEAST it had two doors.
       Want two doors?  Yellow Jacket, that would be the next picture over... you know the OTHER yellow car, in case you missed it?

    You guys are too much, sounds like, target .... HIT !!!  Just admit it, your STUNG! :)

    J.M.O... I could be wrong?

    Just another car that my 2010 ZR1 will blow the doors off of. Remember the ZR1 has 638 hp and will do 0-60 in 3.2sec. The top end is 205mph. I will leave this  leave this super bee thing in the dust where it belongs.

    Be Cool. Drive a Vette!
