WASHINGTON — Chrysler is recalling 303 2012 Dodge Chargers and Chrysler 300s because of a tire pressure monitoring system problem that could lead to under-inflated tires, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
"The tire pressure monitoring system does not warn the driver when a tire is 25 percent below the recommended pressure," said NHTSA in its recalls summary of the problem. "Under-inflated tires can result in tire overloading and overheating, which could lead to a blowout and possible crash."
Chrysler said it is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to the recall.
Chrysler dealers will reprogram the vehicle's tire pressure monitoring system. The recall is expected to begin in February. Owners can contact Chrysler at 1-800-853-1403.
Inside Line says: If you own a 2012 Dodge Charger or Chrysler 300, be aware that a recall is in the works.

Malfuntioning TPMS system... which would mean that you would have to manually (gasp!) check your pressures, like we did 10 years ago... there should be a disclaimer that you should still check the pressures manually, and not rely completely on the TPMS system...
